This video shows how to use pcbc-rnd's split action to create silk for a traditional BJT symbol

First draw an arc and modify the arc object properties to have 360 degrees

Then, switch the line drawing style to orthogonal mode by using the / key 
Ortho mode is shown in the operational readout below the main window, as an (X)

Using the line drawing tool, draw a line that interesectes with the circle. Note that these lines can be drawn on grid but the intersection of the line and the circle is often off grid.  This is a good use case for spliting the line at the intersection. 

Select the circle by clicking on it, and use the split(selected) action. then click on the line object to split it at the off-grid intersection of the line and the arc objects.

The line segment outside the circle can now be edited to continue drawing a BJT symbol.
